Across the UK, hundreds of young wheelchair users are waiting for the mobility equipment they urgently need to live full, independent lives. Whizz Kidz, a leading charity for young wheelchair users, is working tirelessly to meet this growing demand—and now, with the support of Shanly Foundation, more children in the Southeast will get the help they need, sooner.
Whizz Kidz supports children and young people with complex disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Spina Bifida by providing tailored mobility equipment and essential life skills. These tools are more than just practical—they open doors to education, social connection, and improved wellbeing.
With rising costs and a surge in demand, the charity has faced the difficult challenge of an 18-month waiting list. In response, the Shanly Foundation’s funding will directly support 24 children in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and Hampshire over the next three years—eight each year from 2025 to 2028.
This support will help reduce waiting times and ensure that more young people can access the life-changing equipment they need to thrive.
