Grants

The vast majority of our charitable requests are made through the Core Grant fund. At times, Shanly Foundation welcomes applications for other more specific funds, such as the Scout competitions in 2017 and 2024, and the annual Action Against Homelessness and Training & Careers in Construction funds. Current availability below:

Core grants

 

  • Open all year for applications
  • All award values
  • Single and multi-year, core and unrestricted awards
  • For all categories and support sectors of charitable work
  • Preference is for frontline organisations working directly with people in need

Action against homelessness

 

  • Single year grants up to £50,000
  • Multi- year grants for a maximum of 3 years, not to exceed £150,000 in total over this period
  • Core and unrestricted awards considered

Training & careers in construction

 

  • Single year grants up to £50,000
  • Multi-year grants for a maximum of 3 years, not to exceed £150,000 in total over this period
  • Core and unrestricted awards considered

Meets criteria:

  • Registered charities, Community Interest Companies (CIC), Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO), Exempt and excepted under Charity Commission guidance 
  • Core costs and unrestricted awards 
  • Organisations that assist the physically and mentally disabled, the elderly, members of the local communities that may be disadvantaged through no fault of their own
  • Organisations that help rehabilitate citizens back into local communities
  • Local sports and social clubs
  • Local scouting, guiding, Rotary and similar community organisations
  • Outdoor activity centres for young people
  • Woodland and environmental conservation organisations
  • Social and community events that help raise funds to support local good causes
  • Organisations working to counter homelessness
  • Organisations working to develop careers in the construction industry

Does not meet criteria: 

    • Individuals
    • For research
    • Military charities
    • Single faith charities 
    • International awards except for those made in response to international disasters
    • Activities that have already taken place  
    • Organisations that:

– have been in existence for less than 12 months
– does not have a bank account
– has received an award from us in the last 12 months
