From Workshop to Workforce: Supporting Youth Through VIY

Shanly Foundation is proud to continue its support for Volunteer It Yourself (VIY), a social enterprise that helps young people gain practical construction skills while improving community spaces. Since its founding, VIY has delivered over 950 projects across the UK, engaging thousands of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or at risk of becoming so.

The latest initiative will support at least 45 young people aged 14–24, providing hands-on experience, a City & Guilds Entry Level 3 qualification, and tailored guidance to help participants progress into employment or further training. VIY’s structured learner journey includes coaching, accredited skills development, and direct links to local employers offering progression opportunities.

Through continued collaboration with VIY, Shanly Foundation reaffirms its commitment to empowering young people as they build confidence, gain skills, and take steps toward brighter futures.
