Supporting Link Visiting

We are thrilled to be supporting Link Visiting, a charity dedicated to reducing loneliness amongst older people through one-to-one and group befriending, activities and community projects. Loneliness is a large heath concern in the UK: it not only increases chances of developing dementia, heart disease and depression, but directly shortens life expectancy.
The Link Visiting Scheme was founded 25 years ago to help reduce loneliness amongst older people and to bring generations together in friendship and shared experiences. This is usually done through a highly personalised approach, where referrals are given the opportunity to participate in the following:

Link Express – Specialist short-term support.
One-to-one befriending – Long term regular visits from a matched volunteer.
Friendship groups – Regular meetups with Link friends and volunteers.
Community activities – Regular activities open to all, increasing social interactions.

Over 50% of new clients report an improvement in social wellbeing in the first 12 months of becoming a Link Friend and 79% rated Link Visiting ‘Excellent’ in a recent survey.
