This month’s winner of Shanly Group’s monthly charity prize draw is James McCallion, a recent purchaser at Widbrook Lodge in Maidenhead. James nominated charity Maidenhead Care as the recipient of the £2,500 donation. Founded 30 years ago by Reverend Peter Hudson, a former minister at Maidenhead Methodist Church, the charity runs a ‘good neighbour’ volunteer scheme, which provides care and support for the elderly living in Maidenhead by helping them get to their medical appointments, assisting with grocery shopping and other tasks.
Tamra Booth, Operations Director at the Shanly Group, said: “We’re delighted that Maidenhead Care has been chosen as this month’s recipient of the £2,500 donation. We are committed to supporting local charities across a range of causes, and this organisation plays a crucial role in helping Maidenhead’s elderly community.”
James McCallion, buyer at Widbrook Lodge, said: “Working in the healthcare sector myself, I can see first-hand how inability to make medical appointments can severely impact the care elderly people are able to receive. I hope that this generous donation will enable Maidenhead Care to raise awareness of its cause and recruit more volunteers to continue supporting the elderly in Maidenhead.”
John Robertson MBE, Chairman of Maidenhead Care, said: “This generous donation will enable us to upgrade our IT systems, which play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of our organisation as we don’t have a physical office. As the demand for our services significantly exceeds supply, it is essential that we have the right infrastructure in place to enable our volunteers to help as many elderly people as possible”.
