We are proud to announce that the Shanly Foundation is supporting the Aylesbury Homeless Action Group (AHAG), a charity that offers support and advice to secure appropriate accommodation for homeless individuals in Aylesbury.
Between 2023 and 2024, AHAG’s dedicated team of Support Workers will see a significant boost, increasing from two to three individuals. This expansion will allow AHAG to extend its reach and provide much-needed assistance to a larger number of people experiencing homelessness in the Aylesbury area.
Recognising the importance of reaching out to those who have yet to be connected with support services, the Shanly Foundation’s donation will help enable the establishment of regular street visits. These visits aim to identify and engage with individuals who may be hesitant or unable to access existing support networks. By proactively venturing into the community, AHAG’s Support Workers will be able to build trust, assess individual needs, and offer essential aid to those who may have otherwise fallen through the cracks.
Moreover, the Shanly Foundation’s extended support will also address the critical issue of mental health among the homeless population by facilitating increased access to a dedicated mental health nurse. This additional resource will allow AHAG to provide specialised care and support to individuals struggling with mental health challenges, empowering them on their journey towards stability and independence.
Speaking about the Foundation’s continued commitment to the cause, Clare Junak, Awards Officer of the Shanly Foundation, stated, “We firmly believe in the power of community and the importance of providing a helping hand to those who need it most. By expanding AHAG’s Support Worker team and prioritising mental health services, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Aylesbury.”
