Great Oaks purchasers, Georgina Evangelos and her partner Leigh, are this month’s winners of Shanly Group’s charity prize draw.
Georgina and Leigh had purchased a Shanly home at Great Oaks in Bookham and nominated charity 4Louis as the recipient of the £2,500 donation. The charity helps families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or child loss by providing hospital units, hospices and medical professionals with tools, equipment and training that helps them comfort grieving families.
Set up in 2009, the charity has provided families with 106,000 memory boxes to date. These kits contain a range of items such as candles, teddy bears, cards, as well as the materials necessary for ink prints and clay impressions. These boxes are designed to help parents overcome grief and capture precious moments.
Having received help from the charity in the past, Georgina and Leigh chose to support it with a donation, hoping it would enable the organisation to reach even more people and assist them through a difficult time.
Tamra Booth, Operations Director at the Shanly Group, said: “Supporting organisations that help families in the communities where we operate is very important for the Shanly Group. The role of charities, like 4Louis, cannot be underestimated – they help people through some of the most heart-breaking experiences of their lives, making them feel less isolated in their grief.”
Georgina Evangelos, purchaser at Great Oaks, said: “We really appreciate the support provided to our family by 4Louis as we were going through a difficult time. My partner and I are happy to donate the £2,500 provided by the Shanly Group to this family-run charity. We hope the donation will enable them to supply more memory boxes to the families in need of consolation.”
Kirsty McGurrell, Founding Trustee and Director of 4Louis, said: “We are very touched to receive this generous donation from Georgina, Leigh and the Shanly Group. Knowing how little there is available to grieving families, we hope that the extra 83 memory boxes we can create using the donation will make a difference to families facing such devastation.”
