Tiny Tickers strives to improve the chances of babies born with a heart defect. They work to ensure that their conditions are picked up as early as possible, allowing the risk of heart failure to be minimised. This commendable work would not take place if it were not for the sonographers involved. The charity has witnessed a substantial growth in their capacity to train sonographers, with 50 trained in 2014/2015. The Shanly Foundation is pleased to be part of the support that has enabled the charity to train over 330 sonographers in 2016/2017 alone and they are on course to train 500 per year by 2019. This means that babies will have the increased chances of fighting their condition and avoid any long-term side effects of heart failure, including brain damage.
