The Perthes Association is a purely voluntary organisation who are working to find a cure for Perthes. Perthes disease is a form of Osteochondritis critically impacting the hip affecting 5.5 children for every 100,000 between the ages of 2 and 15 years old, mainly impacting boys. This childhood disorder results in the femur bone and the blood supply to the bone softening and breaking down. The charity is working towards discovering the cause of the disease leading to establishing a cure. The Shanly Foundation continues to support the charity and was pleased to contribute towards the organization’s work of helping young children and supporting their families.
